    guy motors memorabillia

when at my mums today we were disucssing guy motors as my dad used to work for them before it became leyland. my dad died nearly 22 years ago but my mum still has a few things from guy motors ie

a goldy coloured ceramic tankard with the symbol on it
a jaguar for the front of a car
a jaguar ashtray (its a heavy ~~~~er) but in perfect nic
an indian head that was a radiator badge like this

    Google Image Result for http://www.localhistory.scit.wlv.ac.uk/Museum/Transport/commercial/Guy/IndianChief.jpg

that indian head was mounted on a wooden frame etc. i just wondered if any of them would be worth anything nowadays. my sister said someone in her work said the ashtray was worth around ?800 now but im not sure if they were extracting the urine!!!

    any help/advice appreciated

There are a lot of HGV restorers these days (more power to them). Ebay has a lot of vintage truck parts but I would watch to see what prices are. There may be a Guy restorers club who would be interested.
I drove a Guy 8 legger for a couple of days when I was 21 and loved it. My dad drove Guys and Leylands, happy days. He sadly died in 1985 after a lifetime as an HGV driver without any accidents at all.
Good on your dad for building a great British Lorry.

My Dad bought 2 Guy Warrior 14 ton flatbeds (ex Higsons Brewery) , in 1965 , when they were 10yr old and i was 9 , they had red and white livery (Higsons) and i can remember feeling so proud ! , i actually drove one when i was 9 ! , under the supervision of my Dad ! , (health and safety wouldn't be impresssed !
Rock solid trucks , unbustible engines ( given proper care !) , he had both of them for 8yrs , then sold them on , still ready for work , to a builders merchants , both trucks had then covered over 350,000 miles !
