Why oh why are some eggs are right biatch to peel and others peel magnificently ?

Sick of doing hard boiled eggs and losing half of them when some the membranes just fly off and eggs are perfect.


I heard a rumour that if the eggs are too fresh thats when it happens

Once they are hard boiled put them immediately into cold water and leave for 15 mins- you will find that will help them to peel easier.

I do the cold water thing i empty the hot out then leave cold tap run on them not for 15 minutes like but i will give that a try next time

rumor has it add teasppon salt to your couldren - perhaps you could do that buy some fresh eggs and try it then leave them for a couple of months try again.

right. foolproof this. take hardboiled egg, roll around in your hands to crack the shell. take off top of shell and bottom of shell. hold egg loosely around its midriff and blow in the top. the membrane will loosen and the shell will come off in one peice. ta-dah. thank me later

Not that i dont trust DKmembers but i done some googling meself and this method has been mentioned to be one of the best slightly different take on it tho crack egg at both end peel away a little of top and bottom blow and it releases itself

BTW meaty will try yours too i heard bicarb helps so it can have bicarb and salt

Crack the egg and while peeling the shell off keep it under cold running water this will lubricate the membrane making the peeling easier
