I can see now how there isn't much call for increasing the minimum hourly rate...

      ?6.19 (minimum hourly rate) x 30 hours = ?185.70 or ?9,656.40 per year
      WTC = ?13,500 - 9,656.40 = ?3,843.60

      Effective hourly rate @ 30 hrs/wk = ?8.85 / hr

Only trouble is: this is just helping employers to create part-time jobs.

Yes supermarkets are great at this not many give full time jobs now the wife only has 16 hour contract and cant even claim working tax credit

not many people in her shop (Asda) are full time they are expected to work weekends and late shifts for no extra cash gone are the days of time and a half double time it seems.

They have em over a barrel wont give full time contracts out now i dont think to anyone so when they are quiet they dont need to pay full time wages but when people are ill or on holiday they expect them to cover

Btw if a person gets ?9656.40 they still have to pay tax and NI from their wages which brings it down to about ?8.25 its not too bad if you live at home with mum

But if you dont and you have rent ect to pay you end up with only about ?35-?45 a week better off than person on the dole in same boat

So in effect you are working all week for ?45 a week

Or ?1.50 an hour when compared to doing nothing.

Yes there are many people who would rather work and most of them are in work but for many people on jobseekers or esa its simply not worth it.

Something really needs to be done to make earning a wage something that appeals to everyone and lifts them well above the dole, what that will be i dont know, barring this year benefits have been rising much faster than wages meaning even less incentive to work

But if you give everyone ?12 an hour wages then what happens ? everything gets much more expensive to buy and companies will lay people off

Economy is really difficult to work on, its a fact many migrants are in this country simply because we have massive cultures of dole bums going back generations dont want what they class as 5hitty jobs

This just creates more problems extra housing extra welfare more money down the drain.

I cant see any fixes tbh but i do think real skills need to be given to people not in work that carry real qualifications at the end. I think there needs to be an incentive to work that makes you much better off than being on dole. This would see many more people keen to work and stop migrants getting work and taking houses.

I think no business should be allowed to operate in the UK and register abroad for taxes, and i think the revenue it brings in should be invested in creating jobs and training throughout industry

How hard can it be to say to the likes of Amazon if you want to use the Uk for business you must register all your UK operations in this country and pay all the appropriate taxes

If you dont like it piss off you have just lost potentially 60 million customers im sure another company could use their company model and replace them, same as ebay paypal, starbucks whoever they are
