Advoce on TV needed

Hi all.

Bought a new tv from Currys on 28th Dec last year. Just noticed last night that on the right hand side of the screen there is a large shaded are running right down the screen. As i took the whatever happens as well; i rang them and they said they would take it in for repair and it would be a week.I told the guy that that was not an option to me to have no tv for a week and I would go to the store and get a refund. He said I couldnt get a refund as they would say the same. Really!!! I thought that if an item was faulty it would be refunded or did I read the sales of good act differently.All i want them to do is change the tv for me. I dont see why I should have to get a 3 month old tv repaired.
Any have any ideas as to where I stand on this before I go to the store.

this describes your rights better---> Sale of Goods Act - Which? Consumer Rights so how ive read it its up to the retailer wether they repair or replace it ( which ever is cheapest, thats why they dont want to replace it because it wont cost em owt ) after 3-4 weeks, most places would replace it, but thats shite currys/pc world for you.

take it back to the shop, you have a year guarentee with the set anyway, make sure you have the receipt and tell them you want an exchange, or refund, not a repair,

If your claim is about a problem that arises within six months of buying the product, it's up to the retailer to prove that the goods were of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, or as described when it sold them. best of all - be polite and stick to your guns
