Cash machine didnt pay up

Went to withdraw ?200 notes today, screen flashed something about cancelled and no dosh

So i went to the machine inside only to find i had been debited the ?200

not happy went to complain and they said they cannot do anything i have to wait until they check machine

After a lot of moaning they said they can do me an emergency overdraft i said i didnt want one i want my money, she said she would open the machine tomorrow morning and check it early its the best she can do

After some more grumbling i left a wee bit pi55ed

Has this happened to anyone else??

whats my rights?

what happens if they decide to pocket the cash and say the machine is correct??

What got me is what if that money was my rent, or to feed family or for something really important should you really be expected to wait that long??

BTW it was my branches own machine

I've had it where a machine didn't register that I drew ?200 out at an Asda. It was 3 months later that the bank got in touch and asked if they could take it. I've also had another machine not give me ?50, it wasn't taken from my account - faulty machine. You should be ok, but banks always seem to land on the side of "you're trying to rip them off", when in reality it's usually the other way around, only for much larger amounts.

I should add my banks other mistakes in all fairness. They paid someone else's loan for 2 years out of my account (I should read my statements more often), paid 2 years council tax for me on demand, even though it was the first month of the year (stupid council mistake really), paid someone else's Sly subs, paid twice fro my car insurance. Can't think of any more right now. In all cases I got my money back They also sold me a pension by mistake as well, that proved very expensive for them

Yeah happened to myself before lifted money and was given under what i attempted to lift. Contacted my bank was told the same that the machine would be checked and the money returned to my account if the atm's funds were incorrect. Got my money back in to my account.

On a night out my brother lifted money and received a fake ?20 note from the cash machine and not even a good fake at that.

I always check and count what comes out of them. Could be far to easy to lift say ?300 stick it in your pocket and not even notice that you are ?20 down go about your spending and not even notice that you have just lost out.

had letter one morning...."sorry we couldnt pay your standing order of nearly 300 tokens yesterday, it will be sorted today" wtf 300 tokens gone oot of bank, got on blower played ferk, me----"WHAT EFFING STANDING ORDER FFS" dumb bimbo at bank--- "oops sorry sir some one put in a wrong number the money will be back in your account end of the day" me--- THATS NOT EFFING GOOD ENUFF PUT YOUR SUPERVISOR ON NOW, supervisor--- "sorry sir the money will be in your account in 10 mins" ( and it was ) plus they gen me 25 tokens as good will gesture, prob is now am a bit paranoid and check account more often than i should tbh, plus the fat en found oot i had 300 tokens that she didnt know aboot ffs ( was emergency fund like fur beer n any car probs ) basad kin banks

What if i was checking the cash machine and it was ?200 up, Id of said we are sorry Mr Red the cash machine tallys up

Anyways money back but tbh the service is not good enough, and GMB said he wanted to speak to a supervisor and they sorted it i was already speaking to manager and she did nothing except offer a temporary overdraft and said she could check the machine earlier than normal and that was only after a lot of whining
