THAT Asda be a shock! A woman who bought a jar of curry sauce from the supermarket chain found it had a real bite after discovering a dead mouse inside. Horrified Cate Barrett, 38, poured the tikka masala into a saucepan when she got home.
She noticed it looked ?a bit lumpy? and when she began to stir it with a wooden spoon she saw whiskers, legs, and a tail.
Cate was shocked to find a whole mouse had fallen out of the jar and screamed for her boyfriend Nigel. They took the rodent and the jar of Asda Extra Special sauce back to the shop where staff apologised and said it would be sent for examination. Cate, of St Austell, Cornwall, said: ?I stirred the sauce around and thought it looked a little bit more lumpy than usual and wondered if we had too many vegetables in the pan. ?Then as the sauce spread out, I saw whiskers, legs, and a tail. Then I fished it out. ?There it was, a whole, dead, tikka masala flavoured mouse.??
Cate, a nursery worker and
lipop lady, said she has been put off curry sauce for life.
fright
She said: ?I?m not squeamish but that definitely got my heart pumping when I saw it and gave me a real fright.?? Environmental health officials and Asda are investigating the incident.
An Asda spokesman said: ??The sauce has been sent to be analysed and a full investigation will take place, usually taking a number of weeks. We will report back to the customer when this has been concluded.??
