    having read the story in one of the papers the other day about management in the scotish library removing all things scottish has enraged me so much i was going to e mail the first ministers office,what is this woman thinkig are we living in a democracy or a dictatorship,surley we as a nation part of the eu we have the right to display our nationality with pride ,having saltires and other scottish symbols should not and i think does not offend any one this is scotland not nazi germany but im beggining to think otherwise are we sleepwalking into a dictatorship

      There used to be a rule that if you flew a flag from a building you must also fly the union flag. If that rule is/was still in force there would be no problems.
      Scotland has two official flags, the other being the Lion Rampant.
      I can't wake up Grumpy now in case I am accused of Dwarfism

        A friend of mine was dissmised then suspended from work for wearing a belt buckle that "resembled" the union jack.

        Apparently the union jack is a sectarian symbol now and not a flag.

        I dont see the problem, the saltaire is in no way offensive to anyone. its just craziness.

          I agree. This whole pc thing has gone crazy. Our local council flew the Red flag outside the council offices for years and nothing was done about that. Maybe because the council at that time had too big of a majority. They don't have a majority now.
