Whenever someone posts a picture in .bmp (bitmap) format all I see is a little box with a red "X" in the top left corner and some text, others seem able to view them ok, anyone know why?

should be posted in PC help.
However it sounds like an incorrect mime type.
Right click on a bitmap already downloaded and select properties then click "opens with" choose IE, tick always opens with this program and click apply.
