sorry to hear about your situation mate but you have no claims against privacy as you are on your employers time and they are entitled to track you when your at work..

they can film you without your consent as long as you are in a public place(workplace, etc.) and they only intend to use the video for training or quality purposes.

    Yours falls under the latter..

You have deffo been stitched up by someone and your company will hope that by making an example of you any backhand jobs will cease..

Its not only the ordinary work thats been watched, I have been a Supervisor in the electronics industry, yeah we watch the opperators but big brother looks over our shoulder as well, by looking through Emails, internet records, security cameras overlooking our open plan office space, using swipe card on all doors to keep track of coming in and out of different sections.

Everywhere big brother is watching, HR people are the ones who are doing less but using this compiled information to pin you up .....

Hope you get back on your feet soon m8....I have heard of worse storys and in the presen climate Employers are look at any angle to suspend or lay off staff.

        Regards:

Looks like youve been royaly shafted.

1 count of gross misconduct is grounds for a sacking, 2 is overkill 2.5 is looking to make an example.

The deal is you'll be questioned then suspended pending investigation (this is to cover their ass) then you'll be pulled into a "disciplinary" meeting where they will present their evidence and give you a chance to present your arguments/represent yourself.
By law they have 14 days from the questioning and suspension to discipline you, if they fall outside of that timeline then they cant touch you (a rarity)

Id phone up my union rep and tell him the script and have him come down to the disciplinary with you as you will be asked questions which usualy land you in even more trouble.

Im fairly well known at work for being a gobshite, known as the "teflon don" cause nothing sticks to me. i can use my mouth better than a ?50 whore though and know my rights inside and out. talks usualy descend into legal terminology and the people throwing the questions have no idea how to respond back to any questions i bring up
I should have been sacked years ago for some of the things ive got away with, i find out im getting pulled then i counter file a grievance to screw up tmelines and throw them off kilter. it winds up letting me slide every time.

are the people that you did this extra work for aware of the situation? if not tell them and ask them to write you a letter (or you type one up and get them to sign it). you only did this extra work as you were asked too - not as if you went canvassing for it (she hopes).

you know where i am if you need any help.

i too feel some barsteward has shopped you - i ~~~~ing hate peeps like that.

i got sacked from my first job in French Connection for leaving the back door open and a load of stock went missing.. ooops.. i dont know where it could have gone .. it didnt go to my mates car boot or anything ..

I also resigned from a job in another retail store..

Both times i was told i wasnt entitled to JSA but ended up getting some money.. ?33 p/w but it was 1996 so i hope the payment has gone up..

Id deffo bring up in your hearing that you appreciate its wrong but its a embeded practice and you have done similar tasks at managers houses..

also PM me if you want.. i trained as a Journalist in college and can ring up your company and pretend to be from the press and ask a few embaressing questions before your hearing, if you want

also been looking at employee rights regarding vidoe i found this passage

Legal action can also be taken against employers who take the monitoring of their employees to far, in the aforementioned prohibited areas or if video is taken secretly.

It is therefore important when using video surveillance of employees to make sure they are aware it's going on. They must also know where, when and how such information collection is being done. That way they know ahead of time they are being watched, that they can be expected to be caught doing bad behavior, but that their privacy and personal interactions are still safe.

so this sounds like we should have all been warned beforehand that we may be subject to being recorded whilst out of the premises doing our duty

employment courts generally realise that an invasion of privacy by employers requires an intentional disturbance into your private business. It must be highly offensive (such as recording in the bathroom or changing area) to a reasonable person.

Generally, videotaping isn't highly offensive if it's limited to job performance and related workplace activities. Employers may videotape to prevent theft or other bad behavior in the workplace. Videotaping increases safety to all employees, promotes good behavior or preserves crime evidence.
looks like they can mate so long as they dont video you taking a piss or changing clothes
