This is an old hoax. Been around a while..

It's virtualy impossable to destroy a pc remotely.

At worst you could overwrite a hard drives firmware to cause it to overspin and burn out its bearings/motor. You need a lot more permission than windows will offer however, especialy via MSN.

My son who has his own IT business(networking side) has set up my computer so that I am just a user and require administration powers to install, delete certain areas etc. It makes me think twice before I download and install.
I was a software engineer(programmer) in my formal life(Many moons ago) but I have not kept up to date and I make silly computer errors. My son got fed up coming to restore my computer.

Back on thread. This means anyone who hacks into me will not have permission to delete, etc, assuming they get past all the firewalls.
