    glass tv stands

anyone had a glass tv stand smash of its own accord?
i was watching my 6 week old lg 47" (30kg) tv the other night when out of nowhere there was a loud crack and the top glass shelf smashed sending my pride and joy tv to the floor.
the stand is one of those black 3 tier glass stands which should hold 100kg no problem.
the tv still works but is now scratched all round the casing. so is the new dvd player i got with it too.
i rang empire direct where i bought the stand tv and dvd and they were excellent and are gonna replace the lot for me. result eh?

so back to my original question. has anyone here had one smash?

never heard of a stand breaking but i did buy a cheap one of flebay and 2 of the glass shelfs had finger prints in the black surface. decided to bin it and spend a bit more money to keep the missus happy as she kept tryin' to polish them off

I've got one of these (black glass, 3 tier) says it will take up to 42". Could be that the set was too big for the stand. Make sure Empire dont send the same again fella

Worked for amazon for a while, you would not believe the amount of these thatwere returned for the same problem, better getting a good wooden one, might not look as good but more supportive..

My dad paid ?180 for his black glass stand, it's rated for 47" and he has a 50" Plasma sitting on it, the shop he bought it from had a 60" on display on the same table.

                    Fingers crossed.
