Still can be done today mate. I currently work for the largest telephone company, and as an engineer, I am able to clip onto any working line and use it, by simply breaking the insulation of the wires. Anyone can do this, as long as you have the necessary equipment. Tele300 is what you require.

Using a but phone on a krone strip I spent many boring hours listening to dull houswife chatter in East London whilst cleaning up cable tv networks at the cabinet.
Juicy and got paid for it

Exactly mate. All can be bought on ebay relatively cheap. Listen on calls, and no-one knows. .

Yeah you can pick up the radio on our phones. Radio 3 and 4, not my cuppa like, but fun none the less.

I also worked for a large telco company and we had the same problems all the time i even court some guys out doing it once whilst doing a job the flat next to them. I told the police but they did not seem to care. What can you do?

I think thats shocking that someone could listen to your calls.. sounds ok in a cops programs or a tv thriller..

why would you want to hear someone elses conversation anyway..

You would be suprised what you hear. . And sometimes you have to listen, to make sure they are off the phone, otherwise they can hear you working.
