    The secrets of catching fish

Been doing the fishing thing for some forty years now with varying degrees of success .There has to be more to it than just the right bait , the right trace , the right old brown sherry. Could anybody share some of the perfect fishing weather secrets other than the high tide with me.What I am asking is do fish bite more when the atmospheric pressure is high or is it when its low ,does the direction of the wind really matter ,does the phase of the moon affect fishing , what, when, how, please tell .I love going fishing even if I don't catch anything it just would be nice to know and plan a trip out knowing the odds are on my side .Thanks ,regards

East coast (around Mablethorpe) in May, if you can't catch the thornback skate while their spawning or the tope while they're eating the skate's eggs and young then you'd have forgotten your fishing rod. Don't forget to take the squid to use as bait.

I swear by a nice soft back crab and a big juicy lugworm tied on with elastic thread and hung just a few yards off the bed,and a little shiny chrome trace helps as well.As for the rest of it I don't know mate sorry, all know is that when im out boat fishing I just love that feeling of the first bite......

They are quite like some of their owners then and that also explains why none of the Ironman movies are set in goldfish bowls then.....

Getting a it off topic here, though it doesn't seem to worry some people

If you don't mind me asking ecufix, where you you go fishing and what are you fishing for - yes I know you're fishing for fish, but any particular variety? It's really a matter of knowing why they are where they are and what they eat. My example above was for thornback skate which I know spawn off Mablethorpe in May. Tend to get cod in the River Humber in November etc. So really its' about background work.
