For years I always said I would love to live out in the country. Now working in Somerset I stay in a wee village called Holford..... all there is in Holford is a pub/ inn, no shops, post office, no other pub and I stay in that one pub . Being from a town with 13 pubs, bookies, shops etc. Definitely took some getting used to but the countryside is beautiful and I've adjusted to it. Would be easier I guess if I drove but still nowhere is walking distance but going to learn to drive... finally haha seen wee bird (friend ) shes been good at picking me up things when I was run down with the flu and good for days evenings out. Country lifestyle I've learnt nice but need to be able to drive or have a 'friend'

I would live in a wooden hut anywhere in the countryside ,I love it.I don't drive a car,used to have bikes but the last time I got knocked off I didn't bounce very well and the old Honda 400 was a heavy machine to push you along the road on your arse,we lost a good family friend on his bike about the same time and it sickened me to be honest.We go to the north York moors whenever we get the chance ,Helmsley,kirkby moorside,gillamoor etc ,lovely little villages and proper real ale.....

Yeah im pretty used to it now mate actually find it peaceful and lovely walks. Go through to Kilve next village along and you have the cli***, caves and beach. weather here is better than Scotland by far... but that's not hard . Also some really nice ales and also cider but think that goes without saying for Somerset.

Tried that (is it called scrumpy) cider once r twice when much younger and it was lethal,ha.Ive got a telescope and its much better set up in countryside as well,the weaher up here in Geordie land is just dull nowt else,just dull at the minute....

Yep scrumpy that's it mate if you get the proper farmers stuff there's no really telling what % there is to it. 2-3 pints will feel fine go to get up and it can be a different story when it comes to using the legs . Some of them are lovely though and can handle them pretty well now. Although you can find yourself going in to a wee pub get a pint of it and it will be like vinegar just been sitting about to long no one touching it.... personally I love it not when it goes to vinegar mind you and its not for a work night

All I can remember about it was that my mate who brought it up north said he had to keep opening the 5litre plastic bottles of it because he thought they were going to explode.That and the fact that I fell asleep exactly half way up my stairs for a few nights.He also told me the locals only drink hal** slowlyand just sit back and watch all the holiday makers fall about like clowns....

Spot on mate right behind my digs there is a field and big barn that holds sheep.... they never bloody shut up

I remember doing some work over in the lakes years ago and me and the brickie were billeted in a caravan,the bloody sheep were constantly rubbing their arses up against it to get the dagnuts off,what a racket it made(against the caravan).....

Was over that way on the bike yesterday for a quick couple of hundred mile round trip - had been a while since I took the bike up there . Stokesley through to Helmsley road is in a real sh*t state now. They closed it a few years ago for 2 weeks to resurface it. Not small potholes but ones that could swallow the local sheep whole. I think they need to drag the company back and make them to it again.
