The current education system means nothing!

Ive got plenty of qualifications and wouldnt consider myself nearly as educated as i appear on paper.
Its fairly simple to ace exams, go home on day one, read the entire textbook and then recite it in your own words.
Whether or not you actualy absorb any of it is besides the point. on paper i can speak fluent french, build a computer from nothing but an abacus, some tinfloil and humerously shaped aubergene. understand physics to an advanced degree.
Out philosophise Socrates and give Plato a run for his money and of course teach brand new political structures to native dictator countries...

I can do nothing of the sort in real life, but ive been through the courses and gained the qualifications, all it needed was a little money, some spare time and a memory span lasting just over a few weeks.

You can insert me into any course in the land and i will quickly rise to the top of the class, answer everything correctly and learn absoloutly nothing (unless its something id regularly use or find remotely interesting)
Ive experienced simmilar to the concepts discussed in Zen and the art of Motorcyle Maintainance to be honest.

The modern educational system is a shambles, grading simply does not work.

        Well said once again chroma.
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I do not know the answer.

People get intelligence mixed up with education.

Education (should be) the ability to work with what you do know.

Intelligence is the ability to work with what you don't know.

A subject that you have to solve yourself eliminates most of the students at college. The perfect example is computing courses. Students are great when they are learning something they can look up in a book or practice on their computer at home. When they come to computer programming where they won't find the answers on the computer or in a book most of them are lost. They require the ability to do math and logic, most of them don't have that. It is not their fault. They are just on the wrong course.

Some of that comes down to teaching in schools too. Teachers are not allowed to sneeze in case the wee bar stewards catch swine flu. If teachers demand something Health and safety has to be complied with first.
Send the parents to school instead. You must have a parental diploma before you can get married. I also want the rule back dated.
