It is all to do with the magic of the number nine.
It does not matter what number you multiply by nine, if you keep reducing the answer to a single digit by adding the number in the answer together, the answer will always be nine. e.g.

3062978 * 9 = 27566802 = (added) 36 = (added) 9.
