Women are twice as likely to ask someone else to park for them

wouldnt mind helping her do a reverse manouvre

There's only one thing worse than struggling to get your car into that awkward parking space.

That's being watched while you do it.

And the chances are the driver breaking out in a self-conscious sweat at the wheel is a woman.

Three-quarters of women admit to having trouble backing into a space even if there really is enough room according to AA research

They are particularly prone to becoming flustered when parallel parking - reversing the car into a tricky kerbside space.

Perhaps that's why they are twice as likely as men to resort to asking another driver to park the car for them.

Three- quarters admit that backing into a space is sometimes too tricky even when there really is enough room.

More than one in five admit they are hopeless under any circumstances.

That compares to just 9 per cent of men.

The survey of 4,200 drivers - 1,428 men and 2,772 women - by motor insurer elephant.co.uk supports the old adage that parking is a masculine strength.

'There is a definite difference between genders and their attitude to parking,' said the firm's managing director Brian Martin.

'Some people claim that generally women are not so spatially aware as men. This would certainly play a part in being able to park comfortably.

'The women we questioned were far more willing to admit they have trouble doing it.'

Seventy-five per cent of women say parking is harder when being watched compared to just 47 per cent of men who get stage fright at the wheel.

Eighty- one per cent become flustered when another motorist stops to wait for them whereas just 56 per cent of men find that stressful.

And 28 per cent of women admit persuading another driver to park for them compared to 12 per cent of men.

Earlier this year AA research found that 34 per cent of drivers would fail on parallel parking if forced to retake their test.

My neighbour cant park, shes scratched up the entire streets cars desperately trying.

That being said however i dont think its more women are worse than guys its just that women will ask for help and admit to failure where as a mans ego wont allow for that.

Theyve sent MEN! to the moon for christs sake MEN! so by this logic i set forth unto the world and declare that parking a car is NOTHING! when compared to the marvels of interstellar travel!
HOW DARE ANYONE QUESTION MY ABILITY TO PARK EFFECTIVELY! MEN HAVE PARKED ON THE GOD DAMNED MOON!

I know for a fact ive never been lost, i just didnt know exactly where i was going! i could pull over and ask for directions but what kinda man does that? WE CONQUERED THE NORTH GOD DAMNED POLE! THEN WENT FORTH STRAIGHT AWAY TO THOROUGHLY EXPLORE THE SOUTH! THEY DIDNT HAVE MAPS FOR THAT!

Ah the male ego, the answer to and indeed root cause of many of lifes problems
He who laughs last thinks slowest.

Saw somebody trying to reverse a trailer down a slipway the other week, they reversed into the wall 3 times and we were all creased up laughing!

I admit i thought it was definitely a woman, until they got out to let somebody else do it for them, it was a man in his 40's or 50's

I asked a colleague of mine one time to parallel park my car for me. Firstly he laughed at me, then told me you could park a tank in the space. When he had finally shut up about bad women drivers he got into the drivers seat and then proceeded to park with a smug look in his face. I turned away in disgust and when i looked back again I caught him hopping my car off the car behind. I never realised my car was bigger than a tank. Thought it was so funny at the time. I got plenty of mileage out of that one

I never claimed to be the best of parkers but it seems that the larger the vehicle the better I am...I drive class 2 trucks btw.

I drove a mini in a previous job and couldn't park it to save myself (can't believe I just admitted that in an open forum ) but in an 18 tonner...no probs?
