downloading is not requested

anyone else come across this on ddigital

some say its the cable.null and rs232 are they not the same.

and would command be different other than "download is not requested" if cable was wrong.

im baffled.

ive got the channels on ddigital but not unscrambled plus cannot get past system imformation to access key input section.

some good advice from the wise technocrats would be gratefully acceptable.
should i do a factory default and then hook up to pc again.

or can i gain entry to key section via remote.

they look the same. A null modem cable is a cross-over rs232 cable, which means 2 DTE (Data Terminal Equipment) devices are able to communicate with each other without the need for a modem or DCE (Data Communication Equipment). This is what you need to update your box (I assume - you haven't said what box). You box and computer are both DTEs.

A straight rs232 is what is generally just called rs232 and these connect to DTEs to DCEs. They look the same but their configuration is different.

ive just flashed my old ddidital after its been gathering dust for months under the steps works a treat
key 2580 in remote this should unlock the system info to enable you to input the keys as i remember 8888 locks it ? or vise versa cant really remember, the 1st boxs you input your area code ie ntl 5404 so 54 in 1st box then your keys 2nd line,04 then your keys,

ive ordered a null modem cable from ebay

the one ive got works on eurovox but not on ddigital plus.

when do i enter 2580 to access the keys section.

i think until its flashed i cannot enter that partplease advice.

the null cables are different i have researhed allday yesterday and they they say the one [null cable]for ddigital the connections are not in line as the one in the null cable rs232 for eurovox.
gosh im im learning so much but its still confusing.

os.is windows xp.

still cannot get past system imformation to input keys.
should i just chuck it out and look for a eurovox.at least you can tune them and restore to factory via rf.i wonder if you can do this on ddigital.cheers
