Is there any sparkies in the house?

Busy decorating my stairs and at the top is what should be a socket, but the wires inside are just in a chockblock and taped off. Would I be ok to whip off the block and fit a socket there and it would make my life easier.

You should be okay to fit a single socket in there.Kill the power first though

Also,you'll need to clear out the plaster out of the way of the screws.You'll need to either get long 3.5mm screws to hold plate on,or you can get jack screws for extensions.The local electrical wholesale guys will fill you in on what you need.

put socket on it, small appliance, TV etc, just check is in ring piece main & Rcd
