As recession bites, crime levels rise. In fact, during the first three months of 2009 ?100million worth of insurance claims were made because of burglary, making it the most expensive quarter for five years.

But how safe is your home and do you live in a crime hotspot? If you do, you're not only at greater risk of being targeted by thieves, you're also likely to be paying higher premiums on your home insurance.
So where are these hotspots? Well, research carried out by moneysupermarket.com spells bad news for Londoners. Five of the top 20 crime zones are in the capital, while four are found in Nottingham. The remaining hotspots are in a broad mix of areas, north and south.

If the real figures were published it woud make headlines. A lot of people dont even bother calling the police. If the item stolen is under a hundred pounds it is not reported. Unless it is shoplifting.

The last time I reported a brand new strimmer stolen from my shed. I said to the police 'I'll give you the number' He said it does not matter you will get it replaced by your insurance. Obviously he does not know that insurance firms don't pay if it is under a certain amount.

The last thing stolen was my blue bucket. Lifted over a five foot fence. Probably after any paper details. Wasting their time. If they had knocked my door I would give them all my debt details.

As for claiming from the insurance, they have employed CSI(Claim Scene Investigators) by the hundreds, because of the recession.

There are some honest PPL then!!!! If my strimmer was stolen I would of said a number of power tools and my snap on tool chest and pushbikes were also taken at the same time so I could claim!!!!

One of my more dodgier friends confirmed this when he stole a Goodmans CD Player from a car, when he got arrested for it and interviewed by the Police they said what have you done with the ?5000 Kenwood DVD Player Sat Nav Sub & Amplifier!!!!
"No officer it was a Goodmans CD Player HONEST!!!!" LMAO

We have recently received permission from Miss Spottie Minnie

her forthcoming Autobiography "My Life with the Dragoon Guards"
to be published. This is a continuation of her exploits over
the Border in the little known part of the British Isles known
as "Scotland". Names have been changed to protect the guilty.

T.V.Serial of the Film "My Life in the Dragoon Guards" by Spotty Minnie
                      Bannister.

Miss Bannister has given me permission to miss out several chapters and go
straight to the chapter about keeping the Scots out of England and the
starting of the strange Scots custom of "Picnicing" or as it was known in
                      Roman times as "Pict Nicking"

Briefly, the Romans built Hadrian's Wall to keep the Picts in Scotland as
they were forever foraging into England and nicking everything that wasn't
bolted down. Unable to cross the newly built wall, the crafty Picts used
to bring their families to sit by the wall and eat peaceful meals, which
they brought wrapped up in leaves. Before going home they threw the leaves
                      away.

Soon the heap of leaves reached the top of the Wall, and the Picts were able
to walk up and over, and nick anything they fancied.

Today a survival of this custom remains that send thousands of people out on
Bank Holiday Weekends, into the country. There they sit and eat a simple
meal and cast away the wrappings, now not made of leaves but of
indestructable plastic.... However, the English have got wise to this and
now send an army of uniformed slaves who, with short spears collect up the
food wrappings before they once more reach the top of Hadrian's Wall.
