TV detector vans to invade your WiFi Privacy

Having just read about this invasion of privacy
I am very concerned that the potential of snooping on your privacy other than to check on wether you are watching bbc iplayer stuff
is going to cause a headache to most people.

DK users I know there are alot of clever people on this forum, how do you prevent the TV licencing from snooping on your internet activity
If you can advise

The BBC would not disclose how the new technology works. The report states that it has ruled out combing its own records of computers that have logged on to the iPlayer website to catch fee-dodgers.
A BBC spokesman said: 'There has been considerable inaccurate reporting this weekend about how TV Licensing will detect people breaking the law by watching BBC iPlayer without a licence.
'While we don't discuss the details of how detection works for obvious reasons, it is wrong to suggest that our technology involves capturing data from private wi-fi networks.'

From the sounds of it, The bbc are logging IP address on their servers and cross refrencing that with their tv licence records.

I would then suggest from now on that everyone uses a VPN to surf the net..

If the BBC dont have a log of you using Iplayer they have nothing to go on (Y)

Maybe I'll upgrade to someone who's has a higher VIP status

I'd have thought that interception of communication was still an offence under the telegraphy act, unless you're an lea. If they work for the bbc then it's unlikely they will be an lea.
