all my kids have mobiles as you do , it kills me if i'm looking for them i ring them they have their phones on silent ffs whats the point of having a phone if ya going to put it on silent .

The fact that i need to effectively BREAK THE LAW for an education.

Science Journals.

A researcher gets a grant from the government (paid for by my taxes) then slaves his ass off over a problem say : Induced Chromosomal Proximity and Gene Fusions in Prostate Cancer

Then he approaches a Journal and PAYS THEM anywhere between ?25 and ?400 to publish his results (depending on colour diagrams and technical schematics) with a nice little addendum of signing over his rights to the material so the Journal now owns the copyrights to the material and not the author.

As if this wasnt bad enough, research that you and I paid for is then made available to us for anywhere between ?10 and ?200 per copy.

So researchers get gouged (a reserch grant goes predominantly into the research and equipment itself, so researchers in some cases dont even make enough to survive) only to be stripped of their rights, whilst we foot the bill and have no legal free access to the finished results?

The authors are traditionaly given a few papers (outside of the journal its published in) to dessimenate to peers and collegues, and more often than not by emailing the researcher they'll more than gladly provide you a copy. but even this isnt strictly above board.
