    topfield freeview pvr

There a topfield freeview box going cheap on ebay. The geezer says it went wrong doing a firmware update.
My question, can it be revived? or will it be proper buggered?

A pal bought one like this -- and never got it to work properly -- something to do with the Firmware Update he said???

He eventually bought a HUMAX PVR and is as impressed with it as I am with mine

Mine checks for an OTA update at 04.00 every morning !!

They do appear on FleaBay now and then.....

N.B The TOPPY is more HOMEBREW orientated than the HUMAX -- you need to set it up yourself when it arrives [new] -- the HUMAX works straight out of the box and is cheaper!!

Thanks for you reply mate, I will probably leave it, seeing as your mate never got it working properly after the firmware updaate.
Just for the record, I have one already, a toppy, and it is the best thing I have bought, that is why I wanted to get another cheap one for downstairs. Although the reviews say the humax edges slightly ahead.
      ta m8.

When I read all the reviews the TOPPY came out best -- but funds were a bit tight and CW DIGITAL had the HUMAX on special offer............

Lol, I actually bought my mother a Humax, after bombarding her with my rantings of the digital video recorder. She is impressed with it, but I cant get to grips with it like I can my toppy. Your right about the toppy being homebrew. I have a few apps on there to make life easier. My stuff epg etc.
