Can you still buy a black and white license i remember my old ma used to do this and it kept them off her back for years think it was only 27 quid a year if i remember right.

If you have no TV licence for god sack why can?t you put your TV in the back room!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have always believed rules we have to obey but why are we paying TV licence when the TV has no means of working without top boxes?

plugged (legal) NTL box in the other day, to genuinly check it worked, before seeing if sending back makes it cheaper, nothing but shite on.

We haven't paid the TV Tax in years.

The rules are that you have to pay the license ONLY if you watch live broadcast channels. If you have a cable, free view or sat box you can only get away with it if you unplug or not use it, because these boxes are designed to recieve a live TV signal.

But if you only watch iplayer, itvplayer, 4od or even if you only watch what you download (legal or not) you do not have to pay their TV Tax, even if your TV has a freeview or other tuner inside.

you only need a TV licence if your tv is powered by the mains.. battery operated TV's do not require a licence.. doesn't help you much but a useless fact none the less

Care to back this up with some sort of link to an official statement?

I've never heard that before, and I'm sure some sort of device could be constructed so you TV is powered by battery, even if that battery is plugged into a charger.

i do not pay for the tv licence my wife pays it herself .... cause i pay for cable. and paying twice is just crazy ;o)

you don't need a licence when the BBC are oparating in other countries, which effectively is treason, You need to look into ACTUAL LAW and LEGISLATION, and know the differance, Legislations are not actual laws, therfore can not be inforced as such, This is a prime example of a corparation dictating to the populous, Always question the ACT (legislation) For a crime to exist there must be an injured party (flesh and blood human and not a business no corparation). It's quite funny when these policy enforcers become dumb founded, when these officers don't know what an ACT (legislation) is, then they are commiting Fraud correctly called gross misconduct, this also alpplies to the Police and courts, Therefore it is your duty to educate yourself and remain free and have money in your pocket, good luck with the learning

they do come around to your house, i have met them. I told them I didn't use a tv (i use my pc!) they were a bit surprised but they seemed to accept it. It may well be worth noting that the detector vans do exist and can be used but have never been used as evidence in a court so are simply a threating device.

With the greatest of respect my learned friend, I think you need to dump whatever books you're "learning" from.

Perhaps you are confused between 'judge made law', in the form of judicial decisions and precedents, and parliamentary enacted laws or 'legislation'. If anything, the latter has MORE weight as a law since it passed through the houses of parliament, including our elected representatives, on it's way to being giving the nod from the queen and finally enacted as LAW.

they came round to my house once a couple of years ago, I have my tv in the bedroom. so when they knocked on I stuck the dog in there and let them in,
apparently they aren't allowed to even ask to go into your bedroom, as it is you own personal sleeping space, plus when the dog is as big as they are and barking like ~~~~ it kind of puts them off wanting to.
then when they see you have no tv in your front room they **** off and leave you alone for another 3 years.
