TV aerial

Morning all , put up freeview aerial yesterday on side of my house , screwfix was out of 2 meter masts so used copper pipe. was told last night that this could be a nightmare if linghtning hit it. should I earth it ?

since copper is about the best conductor available thier could be some issues with lightning strike, might be worth discussing with the tv repair guys
