Need advice on traffic light camera

On my way home from work tonight the road was gridlocked, the light was on green when i went about half way over the line but the traffic did not move and the light changed to red. I was at a junction and was blocking the through traffic with the front off my van so i had to move when the traffic in front moved to let them through. That's when the light went off. So what i need to know will i get a ticket for going through red light as it was not my fault.

Yes you will recieve a fine and 3 points on your licence, you may be lucky and there was no film in the camera.
or you can argue your case since it was not your fault.
    good luck regards hoggy.

you could argue that if you ring the fuzz and explain you might be ok, or they might go, "oh admiited it, send ticket"

The Irish laws are not that different than yours. I`ve seen the situation you were in before and may have been part of it myself but, regardless of whether there was a yellow box or not ,you should not enter the crossing until you can be sure to safely cross it. Wish I could give you more reassuring comments but for now just to wish you the best of luck.

yeh pat i failed my driving test on a roundabout that had keep clear signs on traffic was heavy and i was on unfamiliar ground so i was concentrating more to find a gap at traffic from the right only to find when i went the cars in front all stopped and left me on a keep clear sign that was covered by the car in front

ooh ~~~~ i think my words were but thats what there arguement will be that you should be aware of traffic in front of you and should not of entered till you could get accross

sorry gizmo i don't think you'll have much luck..
                From the highway code:

GREEN means you may go on if the way is clear .
Take special care if you intend to turn left or right and give way to pedestrians who are crossing..
If your route wasn't completely clear you should have not proceeded across the line

I think you have to wait about a month, if you dont hear from them within a month you'll be okay.
it depends on the camera how soon you'll hear from them if it was one of those new digital cameras then you'll hear very quickly, if it was the old cameras with the film in them then you could be lucky.
that theres no film in it or its allready used up ,you just got to sweat for about a month.
                    regards hoggy

Oh dear!! Bad news Im afraid, A friend of mine moved out of the way to allow an ambulance through lights this caused a Red Light Camera to get him, He took it to court and still got 3 points and a bigger fine.
Courts wouldnt beleive him, just thought he was trying to get away with jumping red light, and according to higway code rule 219:- Highway Code Rule 219 says :- Emergency and Incident Support vehicles. You should look and listen for ambulances, fire engines, police, doctors or other emergency vehicles using flashing blue, red or green lights and sirens or flashing headlights, or Highways Agency Traffic Officer and Incident Support vehicles using flashing amber lights. When one approaches do not panic. Consider the route of such a vehicle and take appropriate action to let it pass, while complying with all traffic signs. If necessary, pull to the side of the road and stop, but try to avoid stopping before the brow of a hill, a bend or narrow section of road. Do not endanger yourself, other road users or pedestrians and avoid mounting the kerb. Do not brake harshly on approach to a junction or roundabout, as a following vehicle may not have the same view as you.

So rather than let an ambulance or fire engine through to save someones life, you should hold them up or face 3 points, what a choice????
