You must still have time left on your contract with Virgin. They will want the money to the end of the contract period.
If you are out of contract then they have no right to ask for anything.

I think you could be right m8.

I too would like to get away fron VM but still have a few months left on my contract with them, I also was told that if I want to leave they will want me to pay for the rest of the contract.

Can't argue, moan or complain about that, as a contract is a contract no matter who you have it with, unless they are not fulfilling it, but it always seems harder when there is a better offer on the table with someone else...

Find an address, a relatives or friend that is not in a Virgin Cabled area, Tell Virgin you are moving to this address and as they cannot service this area they will cancel your contract penalty free, they make take a bit of persuading though just stick to your guns, and say things like you would stay with them if they supplied your new address.

                      OR try the other way.

they are raising prices at the start of April, if these price rises effect you or one of your services you take, in effect they're changing the contract i.e. making a new contract - which means you can get out of it.

Orange did the same thing 6 or so months back, changed the prices - loads of people who had just signed up to 2 years contracts with new phones could instantly get out of it.

Yes that works, lots of Virgin customers got out the contract last year when Virgin lost the Sky channels, and when they put the price up last March.
