Non ADSL broadband - whats best

I'm looking to move from an ADSL broadband service since my telephone line is giving me dismal speeds - around 900k on an 8mb service. There's not a lot I can do about this so I'm looking for a service that will not rely on the quality of the BT line.

Anybody have any recommendations for an alternative?

    Cheers

Virgin Media - solid 20MB 'always on' connection. I get 2.5MB/s download speeds and 90kb/s upload speed.

wish i could have cable broadband.....

next year ADSL getting big revamp, started already where some operators now hire lines in the bt exchanges and run the lines themselves, but the line always gona be BT id imagine unless your in a fibre optic cabled area.
        boom!

Gotta agree with Virgin - good and fst although their traffic shaping can be a pain.
