Which is the best TV aerial and coaxial cable?

    Hello
I want to change the aerial on the roof of my house to a suitable one for digital TV.
Does anyone know the best TV aerial and best coaxial cable to buy for a weak signal area?
Any help would be appreciated,Thank you.

probabaly easier to call in the pro's m8, depending on your circumstances.why are you in a "bad signal area", some ariels will work and some won't. you need to know why you're getting a poor signal ie distance from transmitter, obstuctions (behind hill, bottom of valley behind tower block even tree's cause havoc...), diffrent ariel will work better depending on this. that's before we even start talking about siteing and or amplifing the signal... your gonna pay at least 30 - 40 quid for the ariel anyway..

Cant really get any better than the Televes DAT75.
Cost you around 50quid though but at 19db gain its entirely bomb proof.

Make sure and get decent fixings in terms of mast pole and clamps, its almost 2m long so it carches the wind a fair bit.

If space is limited (ie 2m is too big) then you cant get any better than a Gigaboost Log Periodic with an amplified setup.
The gigaboost only supplies an initial 6db gain, the built in mast head jumps that up to 16db in overall gain. combining a linear amplifier will give you a further jump in gain, and it has a lot narrower wind profile.

Ive had great experiences with both.

(db is a logarithmic measurement, meaning every 3db equates to double increase in signal)

as for coax, just use any high quality 75ohm coax, i use amalgam tape on all my fixings to to insulate against rainwater geting inside and rotting the cores.
For any external fittings i tend to keep to F-plug setups (far less messing around and they attenuate a lot less than their coax plug counterparts)
