Ian, when I first saw the pics. I thought the place was the recently new printing works for I ndependent Newspapers here in Dublin as both buildings look alike. I live close to an open prison for inmates at the end of their prison term. The routine is up at 8am,Breakfast (choice of corn flakes or-yes you`ve guessed it Porridge) out to work on various prison projects (farm/gardens/painting etc.)Dinner @ 12.30 made up of cheap cuts of meat/produce from farm more work tea@ 4.30 with packet of (airline style) 3 biscuits. Gym/TV. Lockdown 7.30pm. To get inmates back into a work routine they can do outside work by permission-work of their former trade ie painting/building etc and are allowed to receive 40 euro per day. If ,for instance they work outside from 9 to 5 then they miss dinner and also the evening tea and have to provide their own lunch when outside. But, believe it or not in these modern times, if they are an inmate of the principal jail in Dublin, Mountjoy, the inmates have to Slop Out, which is to all intents and purposes, a mobile loo which, like a bucket, they must endure all night in the cell- mostly sharing- and which they have to empty themselves next morning. That kinda paints a different picture over here.
