    Todays Emergency Budget

So then Lads and Lasses. Your views on today's emergency budget.
?400 limit on Housing Benefits? That'll see a few des res's in London become vacant for those that can pay.
VAT rise. Was this inevitable? Hmm I'm out on that one.
No rise in Beer Wine and Spirits? Good news for the drinkers amongst us, Although I suspect the breweries will increase prices anyway.
Scrapping the landline charge on phones to fund high speed internet for all.
    Great, That's a fiver I don't have to pay
Anything else you feel is good or bad about this?

May be controversial to say but my opinion on this one:

:: Tax credits to be reduced to families earning over ?40,000 next year

Personally I think that is still way too high,it should have been capped at ?30,000

Anyone who earns ?40,000 a year shouldn't be needing Government tax credits in the 1st place.

I'm bringing up two kids,I work full time with only my wage coming in the house. The tax benefits are the only benefit I receive but I'd like to see some of these high earners live on my yearly wage and then they would realise how needed our tax credits are compared to their own.

So the question is how long is the VAT up for? Year, 6 months untill the world ends ?

That's going to be even harder work extracting money out of punters.

"Too deear, in my country 1/3 the price" - well ~~~~ off there and get it
      done.

Mr whatever his name is would have been better off re-programming the national lottery so the MAXIMUM pay out is 100,000 grand, that's plenty
for most folk, and cream the funds off that way.

What good is 7 million. You can cause a lot of damage with that just 1 million much.

Should make lottery winners of big funds pay for things like hospital, pubs etc.

?400 per week cap on housing benefit its laughable should be ?400 per month

the governments are crippled by one of the tories most succesful ever policies the right to buy

unfortunately this leaves no affordable housing left for rent and private landlords are pocketing thousands of housing benefit every week

more cheap housing for renting needs to be made available it started after the war and lifted the economy lets do it again

however i find it odd that councils all over the country are selling up council stock to developers for private estates

all these houses should be used to save on housing benefit claims, if you want to claim housing benefit you should live where your put not pick your area then expect your huge rents to be paid

totally agree with cronus on this- what kind of greedy b***ard would try getting the government to give them hand outs when they earn 40 grand a year in their job. they should get the family allowance taken away too as they clearly dont need it.

I think he should withdraw are troops out of Afghanistan that would save millions and would piss off the british hating president Obanana we will have to get out anyway, cancel trident, housing benefit should be a limit of ?500 a month why should the workshy live in best house in street and I have to pick up the tab
I am not in favour of tax credits as it subsidise bad employers what happens in this area is employer says we pay minimum wage and the state will top it up ,why should I subsidise millionaires. problem is people now relies on there tax credits to live on it would be better if they where not taxed in the first place but that was to easy for labour and did not employ enough people in run it, labour wanted everybody on benefits hoping that they would be frightened of losing them
