Is learning fibre optic splicing difficult?

Basically gonna do a city and guilds course in fibre optic installation, splicing and testing.

I already work in telecoms but as a rf installer so we use big bulky cables.

Just like to know from you guys if its difficult to learn ?

and any views would be welcomed

Anything you can't do is difficult until you master it, then it's easy.

      THE TRUTH
      The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

Cept flying by throwing yourself at the ground and missing, thats difficult even when you've mastered it.

the actual splicing process is pretty easy mostly done by machine the tricky part is getting a good splice with no loss.

you need specialist tools for the job 1 fibre slightly not cut straight will result in a failed splice my brother works for a data company and splices fibre on a daily basis he has to remove the splice machine from his van at noght because they are very expensive this particular one was ?20k so when i am round he lets me have a go at splicing some fibre and its pretty easy to get the hang of.

althought your course will consist of a lot mor than the practical side of things you will need to lead all about the hows and whys etc

good luck on the course and let us know how you are getting along.
