Alex Higgins brought snooker into the 20th century with a bang ! If it weren't for his talent (and temperament !) i think snooker would have died a lingering death at the hands of the old school ex billiards players such as joe and fred davies (no disrespect).

bit of a snooker player myself, have a couple of mates who have actually played against alex in exhibition stuff.
the man was a true genius, loved it when he used to virtually wind his cue up before playing a power shot.
He brought the game home to the masses and the snooker world has a lot to thank him for.
