    does an ambulance cost?

Does it cost you owt if you have an accident, and the ambulance takes you to hospital? I say it does. when it is a road traffic accident, but the missus says no.
She probably knows better than me, she has caused more.

I think there are instances where they can make a charge. Although it may be worth it sometimes as I spent 5 hours waiting in A&E a couple of years ago when I took my son with an injury and during that time anyone who was brought in by ambulance came in another entrance to the side and were seen to very quickly!!

      YES

If you look at the wall in 'Meat-City Hospital' there is a sign on the wall that says something like:

"If you are involved in a motor accident, we can charge you for repairs, this is normally covered by motor insurance"

I trapped my thumb in a car door ( was pinching some bits off it, i went in and popped the bonnet so fast the door got my thumb on the way out - same rebound - my energy)

Told the hospital it was a CUPBOARD door otherwise would have got charged.

My mate came off his motorbike and got a bill for 23quid +vat for a photocopy of his arm using one of them x-ray machines.

          The answer is yes

This document is Scottish, but the same charges operate throughout the UK.

He who laughs last probably didn't get the joke.

The NHS does charge, I work for a motor insurer and if our insured is at fault for an accident and the other party is injured and therefore taken by ambulance, the NHS will bill us. Think it's currently around ?600.
