i've only ever submitted 2 and got to interview, got offered the jobs but turned them down as the pay was nowhere near what i was on..

Cunny, from experience I can tell you that having a `Flash` CV can be a hinderance from the point of view of perhaps being over qualified for the position sought.
With the benefit of the pc it may now be possible to have a look at a company`s profile while you consider on applying for a position there.
For instance; If you were applying for a position which is not your usual line of work(because of the times we are in) but this company or business also held out the prospect of a later opportunity to apply in your own field then it would/may not be appropriate to emblazen your CV with qualifications not suitable to the position applied for. Over qualification can put employers off. It`s a delicate balance to decide the right thing to do.
I found myself unemployed several times during the 80`s recession and eventually resolved to `selling` myself rather than offering myself for a position which can be done at the interview stage.
Flexibility is the word they want to hear though it may be a condition to start with anyway.
The main thing is to get your foot inside the door, work out the probationary period with your head below surface and not cause any ruffles and take it from there.

Well a place i dropped my CV into a few weeks back have just called me inviting me to an all day interview and assesment. Well all fingers crossed when i go as not had a proper interview for well over 12 years

Check on ezinearticles.com, always good articles on everything there.

Be prepared for some tasks including working in a team, working on your own, etc. Sounds like it's an assessment centre if you're going to be there all day. They want to see how you perform in a team, are you a leader or a person who sits back and waits to be asked to do a job, do you have initiative to do a task without being told, do you stand out, offer opinions, etc. Then you'll probably get a 1-2-1 interview. Also try and pick up on the other candidates traits, that can help you too.
