    best conditions for storing a li-ion battery

    I have a sony handycam camcorder and i want to know the best conditions for storing the battery, i.e how fully charged should the battery be when in storage 100% or 0%. and is it safe to keep the battery in the device or should it be removed. cheers people...........

    40% charge in a cool dry place.

    Lithium doesnt have "charge memory" although it does have a short discharge lifespan, so make sure they dont wind up fully discharged.

    Probes however suffer from charge memory and will get less accurate over time, to the point where the charge probe thinks the battery is dead when its got a lot of charge left, this is when a pack should be discharged and then fully charged, only to reset the probe.

        A word of warning on discharging a Li-po. If the charge level drops below a 'safe' point, you will not be able to recover any change.

        The batteries have a point where they will shut down the device. You can turn the device back on, but it will damage the battery. If fully depleted the battery will no longer accept a charge.
