Due for an upgrade with 3 mobile. Contract ends next month, does anyone have a good deal and what phone is a goog one to have. I'm currently getting 1100 anytime x network and 300 to other 3 users for ?20. I barely use half my allowance so could come down on that but just wondering mainly what phone to look out for thanks in advance Donka.

Nokia usually a very good brand.

Asda using Vodfone network are doing some good deals.
If the phone is unlock you can use their network. Just google Asda mobile.

I've got an iPhone 4 on 3.. ?99 for the phone, ?30pm:

500 min cross network anytime
5000 UK Texts
1GB internet usage
5000 3 to 3 minutes

I went to 3 as my wife has a 3 phone as do several of my friends.. 5000 minutes to other 3 phones is unreal

You can get he same deal cheaper on different phone models if you don't want to spend the ?99 on an iPhone 4

if you want an i phone three do the best deals in my opinion,,,tesco also and only 12 month contract
if you dont want an iphone then shop around,,but generally speaking you will not get a better deal than if you stick with your current provider
if you have seen a better deal then tell them and in most cases they will match it

By the sounds of it you're looking to cut down on your billing rather than upgrade to something flash. If this is the case you can 'upgrade' without taking a phone & have your monthly bill lowered instead. You could end up only paying ?10 p/m without losing anything.

If you are looking to upgrade there are a few bits of info you should know.

Nokia have not made a decent reliable phone since the N95

Blackberry make good phones for business, but you do have to pay for the data services from blackberry. They also like to crash.

Sony Ericsson have slipped in a similar fashion to Nokia. Their biggest issue for customers at present is their attempt to use Android. For whatever reason they insist on removing functions & customising options from the software. It might not mean much to someone new to Android, but if you know it well...it's a bad move.

HTC make some really good phones, & some less than great phones. Mid range stuff like the Wildfire is ok, but the Desire HD is the best they have for Android. This should be good competition for the Samsung Galaxy S.

Samsung have been on the rise with some kick ass top end phones. 3 do have the Samsung Omnia 7 which is a Windows 7 phone. I know very little about it, but I hope they have fixed the crashing & corruption problems the plagued all other Windows Mobile devices. If they have then this has the potential to be up there with the best of them.

Definately avoid Nokia, I have the X6 and it is the worst phone ever, It drops calls in full signal areas, The apps like facebook and twitter lock up causing you to restart the phone,If you use the mp3 player you cant use any other apps as it says memory is full and the touchscreen works when it feels like......

Took it back to 3 and they said its all just common bugs with the phone, and I cant upgrade for another 12months so stuck with it.

Don't make the same mistake, like others have said go for the iphone, it is the best although not perfect but compared to anything else available it is the best...

Guess I should also warn you about the Iphone....

It, just like the Blackberrys, Nokia's & Windows Mobile phones...likes to crash. They lose signal as soon as you look at them, Apple restrict everything you can do with them & the updates usually cause more harm than good.
The front glass/digitizer that covers the screen loves to crack & overall they are the most over priced phone on the market with long contracts with expensive tariffs

A phone designed around a music player that doesn't support stereo bluetooth headsets. You can't transfer files via bluetooth unless you jailbreak it.

I could go on, but I don't have the time.

I just bought a HTC Desire and wow its a great phone (the only problem with it is that it is a Christmas present and I can not use it to Christmas ) So if you are willing to spent a bit of money on a phone I would recommend the Desire.

Until you update it & lose the jailbreak.

The Desire is a very good phone, but I would go for the new Desire HD. The GPU free's up the main processor so it's a lot faster than the original Desire. Just be aware that until you work out how to use it effectively the battery life is terrible. Turn off the 3G connection, GPS, Bluetooth & wi-fi. Then make sure you close programs correctly so they don't continue to run in the background.

I understand some of what you say canker BUT

Jailbreak your iphone its very very easy

you can put any media on it you want

any screen is susceptable too breakage and you can put a screen protector on which will provide a degree of protection..

thay are overpriced BUT they are the dogs bollox

also i like it as you can get a bluetooth elm head and using palmer performance software you can diagnose veichles

it has many many functions that are very pratical too

all in all its the best phone by miles

all the apps are free once jailbroken and thats a bonus for me as you can then try or buy

i have to agree with toomy tee
they are by far the best phones available on the market,,,,all handsets have there ups a downs and pros and cons,taking all that into consideration theres isnt a better phone on the market right now than an i phone

canker i respect your views etc but how you can slate an i phone i dont understand,,,,once jailbroken if you update then re jailbreak,,,,or simply dont update until there is an available jb for new fw,,a++le have shafted millions of decent folk by completely restricting any 3rd party involvement in the use of application software on the i phone,,,,i like to call it consumer revenge,,power to the people,,,i feel a revolution coming on a jailbreaking revolution
