what is going on with dk?

its doing my head in, all the new people coming on to get k*ys and buggering of again. Talk about used and abused. It takes bloody ages to scan through the forum now because its too buy. at one point i couldnt get on!!

i wouldnt mind if people were loyal and stayed, or even read the posts before starting a new thread, but they dont.

i think you should ask for a small membership fee, ill pay to enjoy a quick forum

Yeah I agree, but lets not forget we were all newbies at some point (I think I might still be ), but hopefully some of them will stay and make a valuable contribution to the forum.

here here, well said, I am a newbie and it is very daunting at first, this site is great, as are forums for most things, I think people should be aware that all the info inputted is free, by normal evreryday people with nothing to gain, without them the forum is useless, well done to all who submit valuble info to help people they dont even know, and will probably never get know, never mind meet in person.

trouble with that is people will put 30 crap posts around the forum just to get their download causing more work for admin and causing even more posts to wade through

dont know what the answer is or even if there is an answer but we were all new at some time and all had to learn,we just had 4500 people trying to learn(ok some were not interested in learning)in a couple of days

Ah, it's one of those I-remember-when-it-was-all-green-fields-around-here threads!

Personally speaking, I cam here looking for answers to specific technical issues. I found them but, in the process, read most of the forums/ topics and liked what I saw.

I plan on hanging around and contributing where I can. Prolly not on the technical forums for a while however.

The whole business of messageboard membership is fraught. Make it totally open and free and there is always the risk that total anarchy will prevail. Make membership dependant on a hoop that people have to jump through and you run the risk of creating a community of navel-gazers with an inbreed mentality. No easy answer. But I am pleased to see that the "local village for local people" brigade is restricted to relatively small numbers.

Oh, and thanks for all the excellent information/ dialogue that is made available here.
