I have been here a while and keep login in on a regular basis. I may not contribute too much but I don't have the same experience that others have. I, like most others, need only to get their boxes up and running again when there is a glitch. I do not have the expertise that regular contributers have ( in abundance I might add), but I love to read the banter and glean knowledge from the posts that I have read. I don't feel the need to ask questions so much as all the answers are already there if you just look.
I agree that some people need spoon feeding but we are all at different levels and what one person finds easy another might get quite a headache trying to figure out. No doubt there will be another rush of members soon enough so lets enjoy the peace while it lasts.
    Merry Christmas
    Harry

Well it certainly has been an experience and everybody in this thread has so far made valid points. We will just have to see how it goes, but DK was set up to be a be avery noob friendly site and although many have appreciated that we all know that they will only come back when they next bucket of poo hits the fan..

As Dk members we must smile and wade through the posts that ask the same thing over and over and hope each time we gain some good new members as we did during this last episode. We all will be better prepared for the next one when ever that is and changes underway will help to keep DK from crashing or lagging as we saw recently. We know it will be battle each time VM decide to have a bit of funs and games, but it sure makes DK grow.

Keep up the good work guys, I know it was hard last time but we all did well and I am sure we will next time..

This site is well put together and comprehensive - dont keep it to yourself!

I think a lot of people see the newbie influx as something to be tolerated. Something we just put up with!! I think this attitude is wrong.

If you want to be in a forum with just the same tired people reading the same tired posts then ok. Fine. Nowt wrong with that. If you want this to be a lively forum with a mix of people from all walks of life then newbies are a factor in its success. I think merely tolerating them is not enough. Should be a little more friendly and not so mean spirited. No one here was born with their knowledge!

When i joined i did so for a download. I did keep the site in my favourites and would visit every now and then to read posts. Didnt really occur to me to me to make a post myself. Its a scary thought if you are not used to forums. Then i got an email from Devilfish (i dunno if it was in my messages here or actually to my email address) but anyway it was just to say 'you havent posted anything since your introduction...blah blah...' it wasnt a telling off letter but it was worded very well and it was friendly. It is the reason i made my first post. Now my drivel is all over the site!

I am not having a go at anyone, and i know its frustrating when its so busy, i am just pointing out that there is a positive way to look at it. Even if only one person out of every hundred that joins actually stays and gets involved surely it will mean the forum has grown. Gotta be a good thing.

i think you should ask for a small membership fee, ill pay to enjoy a quick forum
So would i....i would now! Truth is i just wouldnt have as a newbie just looking for a download. I mean lets be honest, we are talking about a lot of people who wont pay to watch tv chanels so i dont think they gonna be dusting off their credit cards in droves.

It is that time of year remember, goodwill to all men and all that!

yeah it gets very busy when the keys roll but as already stated so does every other main forum.

I'm quite impressed with the number of newbies that stuck around after the latest keyroll you will always get a large propeortion of people who only come back for the next fix...but lets continue to be helpful and watch the forum continue to grow

          keep it up peeps
