Everyone knows they're nocturnal and as it's dark and wet at night time very few photographers can be bothered to venture out.

i never realised it was these little creatures that were responsible for these crop circles either, but after you explained their leg problems it makes sense, you live and learn...Comment

that's an interesting topic jcgrumbles. It might be worthwhile for someone to get a nice research grant and investigate it in more depth.

Sorry to dissapoint but there are the 2, 3 and 4 legged variety of haggis...the 3 legged being the more rare of the three.
Obviously Burns Night was originally a summer event but due to the haggis being up and about in the hills and it's small size it was hard to hunt. So the consensus for the new date was 25th January for this event so that the haggis can be found in hibernation with no problem which has now become a worldwide event.
The haggis has got more scarce over the past few years but (though not like rabbits) does have a good breeding season in which most of the young survive confusing the predators by making them dizzy running around the hilltops.
There has been talk of using the donations that Dreamer talks of to start farming the poor creatures though there is a large contingent of haggis lovers just want to protect the environment with the money as farmed haggis will not taste as nice as free range.
Whatever the decision your money will go to saving a great wee animal that deserves it's place in our culinery books.Virgin Tivo 500GbComment

they was once rife in England too, and caused havoc with crops, (like jcgrumbles said, making circles everywhere)
then the Romans eradicated them, except for in Scotland,
and to make sure they didn't re-populate, south of the border,
they built Hadrian's wall, because we all know the Haggis are crap at climbing,
even the four legged ones.!retupmoc eht ni deppart m'I !pleHComment

i live close to the roman fort called arbeia in south shields mate and as the romans who built the wall in ad122 used whatever materials were close at hand our end of the wall was built mostly of local sandstone and was therefore covered indeed by a 10 year warranty, but as they went further north the job got a lot harder due to lack of gear and to make it worse the contractor called marcus wimpyus buggered off so a builder called maximus priceious was hired to finish the job, he was a right robber nicknamed rhino because he was thick skinned and charged a lot,to cut a long story reasonably short meat im afraid there is parts of the wall not covered by any warranty and these bits are where the labourers could not find any stone or stout timbers (or upvc)but they did find in abundance strange hairy faced wonky legged creatures which they trapped, ate and then used the stretched skins to form the wall.that is why only parts of the wall are left....sorry mate, you asked and ive had a few
