New Dreamboxes

I have just bought a DM500C and a DM800 HD PVR (the cable version).
I intend to run them on Virgin cable input and cannot get past the "cannot find a transponder" on the 500C and the DM800 is stuck searching for a service (i didn't get the chance to select cable as an option so i think i may have been sold the Satellite version).
Do i need to change the images on both boxes and if so which images should i use?
Any assistance would be gratefully received.

you have bought cable boxes, useless now, apart from 1 to 5. return if you can, or change tuners to sat and get a dish.

Sorry to say this but your boxes are useless on cable...As they have changed the encryption to nag3, which is unhackable at this present time. So you will only be able to receive channels 1-5.

So the best thing for you to do is try and get your money back or change the tuners to sat ones and get a dish and go down the card-share route....

PS: Next time i would do a bit of research before you spend your hard earned cash...........

Yes the Dreamboxes still recognise virgin media but all you get is a blank screen. Like i said in my post above the only channels that the dreambox will decode is BBC1 through to channel 5.

I Would try and get your money back or go down the sat route as you can receive all channel's through card sharing

PS: Card sharing talk is banned from this forum....So if you want to learn more then google is your best friend...

Whats the point of buying these kind of boxes if you have a virgin sub ........ You might has well have, just got multi room and saved yourself some cash......
