The Forces Children's Trust & My Mooooostache

As alluded to by the title ?mooooostache? I am growing a moustache and will continue to do so until my target is reached, then I'll shave it off..!!!

Why on earth would anybody want to do this now we are the right side of 1985..??

Well I was deeply moved by a piece I saw on TV about the charity ?The Forces Children?s Trust?

The Forces Children?s Trust is a charity devoted to helping dependent children that have lost a parent whilst serving with the Armed Forces.

The sad truth is that the number of British military deaths on operations in Afghanistan since 2001 stands (today) at 346, the total number of UK troops killed on operations in Iraq reached 179 by the time main operations ended. Behind each of these numbers is a family devastated, behind many is a young person devastated and stripped of their mum or dad at an age when many of us need one most.

The Forces Children?s Trust provides a valuable outlet for bereaved children to meet, talk through and work out their feelings in an environment where they can be supported by others in a similar situation. The scope of its ability to help both an individual and a group of children in similar circumstances should not be underestimated.

The FCT has amongst other things provided special software for a dyslexic young boy who had sadly lost his father. The cost was beyond the mother in her present circumstances and not available from other sources. The immediate response by the FCT enabled the young boy to instantly improve his educational skills. In contrast, the Trust funded and enabled a trip to London for a group of young children to see the hit-show ?Mary Poppins'. This included an overnight stay as well as restaurant meals and other visits together with their mothers and escorts from the Army/RAF Widows Associations.

Please take time out to watch the short video about what the FCT can provide and what its aims are.
