          fair use my a**e!!!!

          barrowmanandrew's "fair use" policy.....

the customer pays VM what they charge every month for using their BB.

the customer uses their BB when they want.....

          can't say farer than that...

I use Astraweb and it gives you the option of using 443 or 563 for SSL

            ssl-eu.astraweb.com Ports 443 or 563 (European)

Here it says N/A for 50MB connections, have a look, Our traffic management policy

So they're giving false information as well then.

you know i was paying ?38 a month for the 50meg, but i noticed on there site that its down too ?35. i called them up and had to take a new 12month contract but they dropped to the new price. the price changed in December and they are gonna back date it for me.

i mostly download all my stuff at night really just use the net during the day for surfing, voip calls and black opps so i never really go over the cap that they set.

i didnt like the fact that i had to get a new contract just cause the price had chanced but i guess thats the way they keep customers. they said when 100meg is in my area i can just change to that

@mojilnor. You will lose some speed over wireless, not sure about 20% though. But if your getting proper speed with an ethernet connection then thats all they need. As essentially you can get the speeds, dont matter if you cannot get them over wireless.

AFAIK 50mb is not restricted at anytime. If you are being restricted, then you need to prove it. Run ping tests and trace routes through the network at different times of the day. Keep these, and use them against the techs. Majority of the techs read from scripts these days, and wont have a clue what any of it means. Ask to speak to the Level 2 techs in Swansea, but there are very few of them, and they will be very reluctant to put you through to them.

If your downloading and getting restricted badly, then look at setting up a VPN, or getting a seedbox. A VPN will slow your downloads down, but no-one can see what your doing, and its 100% encrypted. Other option is seedbox, then you can FTP all your downloads across, which are not restricted by speed throttling.

@Poster who pays for 20mb and gets 2-5mb, then there is something seriously wrong. How are you measuring these speeds? You need to run numerous speed tests from sites to prove this, also run ping and trace route tests. All of this will allow you to prove that your dling at slow speeds. Also ensure your downloading from a premium site, eg download.com or something, so you will max out your speed. You can also use this as evidence.

Newbie & Furious With Virgin Media

Hi all another newbie here, joined aster searching others who seem to be hit by this new Policy of Virgin Media , which states their new policy is to Modify peoples download speeds,

well i am not some young upstart but a grandmother , who is paying for a large broadband package costing ?25 per month yet most of this week have been receiving between 1mb _ 2 MB ,

just had a flaming row with Virgin Media customer service , told them i intend to cancel my entire package, and get my kids and grand kids to do the same ( it was me that suggested my kids moved over to Virgin )

if this is the way they treat their loyal customers, its best if everyone boycots Virgin , Rail , Virgin Banking, Virgin Air , in fact anything and everything the cheesy griining Mr Branson has got all his fingers in ,

on all the adverts, still available it clearly states unlimited usage contrary to this new policy , I hadnt realised ,until erlier we Virgin Media customers, must be paying for Mr Eugene Bolts fee in the new adverts

Branson you are a rip off

Welcome to DK If your downloading stuff the best time is between 9pm and 10am these are unrestricted and you can download as much as you want at full speed. That's if you havent downloaded your daily quota beforehand. Look on the website to see what your allowed. Best bet is, save your downloads up and start them at 9pm

                          THE TRUTH
                          The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

Hi welcome to DK, the worlds BESTWEBSITE.

We assume your a real person, rather than some staff of Virmin stirring shit.

There is more on this website than this thread

You got a link to that.

Just like to add, the other week, got a cold phone call from Virmin - woman, hardly spoke a word of Inglish.

Basicaly they edited my bill settings so it's cheaper. Got the next bill, charged my account 27P for editing it!

BUT was 'unable' to complain, incase got service cut off. Would rather be 27P out of pocket than not being able to log onto DK.

Had DK not been the worlds bestwebsite, they would have got the biggest round of rude words possable (Apparntly they hang up when you use big words).

Sadly no idea who said it or when, but if you call them and select "Thinkig of leaving us" - you get to an Inglish person.

Branson is not the owner of VM. He is a figure head, he owns less than 20% of the actual company. Same with all other virgin brands too!

So you may sit in your ivory tower, and shake your fist at the man, but he is not to blame.

Speeds will always be throttled, whether it be through a VPN, or SSL. DPI is used, and can see what you are downloading, and your speed is adjusted accordingly. I dont know why people are saying 50mb is poor, as I get 5.9mbs downloads at all times.

I downloaded 30gb yesterday in the daytime, and had no slowdowns. Perhaps its the sites you are using? And how fast do you really need something?

Whilst you all may crow about going to Sky, you seem to forget that Murdoch is an even worse devil to jump into bed with. Plus the ADSL network will never support speeds as high as VM. Even with FTTP unless you are willing to pay massive install costs, then the majority will have very poor and slow speeds.
