Had mine done about 12 years ago in my early 30's.

Went shopping straight from hospital and started to feel it after about 4-5 hours. Second youngest was still a toddler and ran and jumped on me as the pain was changing to a dull ache...still a hole in the living room ceiling.

Was back at work next day on light duties and normal duties the day after. Suffered little in the way of pain apart from what I said above.

As for some of the horrors that have been told here...there are always bad experiences to the same situation and it is rarely the "victim" that is the cause...more the person doing the procedure but some guys genuinely do suffer more pain than others.

As for the lack of sex drive...it is (usually) all in the head. If you had one before you should still have it after.

And finally if a guy is being pushed into the procedure then he should take a good look at the relationship as a whole. My wife and myself talked over all options and came to the conclusion it was easier for me to have the snip (and more reliable given the figures) than her to get it.

As a number of posts have said it really is much easier than it is imagined to be basically I did the following

Nov 09 went to see my doctor who asked if I was sure (double checking as neither me or my missus have kids) he then said would refer me

Dec 09 Had to phone the clinic to book the appointment and was told would be Mar 10

Mar 10 went for the opp. TBH signing forms and getting undressed and dressed took longer than anything.

The initial injection - painful scratch and the only other thing was a bit of a dull tugging sensation. Other than that 24 hours of throbbing which was easily controlled by decent ibuprofen.

        One thing though....

If you are considering having the op just take the comments on here. The reason I say this is that after a couple of months after having it done I was bored and decided to watch a vasectomy being done online and it made me squerm something rotten and had I seen it before hand I could well have bottled it
