lainie heres some advice for when you are involved in a car accident.
1/ always call the police no matter what happens even if the other party instantly admits liability.
2/ get asmany witnesses as possible even if its only their names and adresses.
3/ take some photos with your mobile phone camera.
4/ never ever take it as red if the other party admits liability-they can change that once they leave the scene.
5/ if in any doubt phone your insurance company for advice

        4. is useless. As I stated earlier, unless you get the TP to sign a sworn statement, then their admittance at scene is worthless. As its actually your insurance company that admits liability and not you.

@Tshirtman - Could be that they dont want your business. Companies will over inflate prices if they dont want your business. Try direct line, as I find they are amongst the cheapest insurers around.

Also this will come as a suprise to most of you. But if your involved in a NON-fault accident, your insurance will go higher than if involved in a fault accident. Simply because of how insurance works. If you have a NON-fault, then the way your insurance is calculated, believes that your more likely to be the cause of an accident next time, so will add monies accordingly.

And finally, anyone insured with the Admiral group of insurers? Be careful when making a windscreen claim, as they are now rating you on any windscreen claims made. In other words, if you make a windscreen claim, this is classed as an accident, and will increase your premiums.

Have to say agree with alot of that, i take it you work for admiral? Also out of intrest what do you now do?

@Tshirtman - Try churchill is same RBS brand but i find usually cheaper then direct line and also alot of comparison sites. I usually do gocompare.com and then Kwickfit and direct line and churchill.

@johnboy1974 - i would add to the photo's but try and take as posioned after and also show tp reg just in case they deny or dont report you have evidance of involvement.

Report it to the Police. The other driver has left the scene of an accident.
I had this problem. The police traced the driver. They gave his name and address to me so I could give them to my insurance company.
My insurance company found out which company he was insured with and billed them.
The police advised the driver to pay or they would arrest him for leaving the scene of an accident. Not reporting an accident and dangerous driving/driving without due care.
His insurance paid within a month
Other driver said he'd never been in an accident in 35 years of driving. I said he probably hadn't been caught until now!

Only problems is other driver did stop so unless u know someone in the force its hard to say driver left scene of the accident as technically they exchange details.
