I'm gonna guess 'bread rolls' or 'buns'

there is only one proper word for this type of bread and that is "barmcake" barm for short.

                e.g. a chip barm

                    just call them rolls.

                    we would say.

a roll and cheese ,a roll and chips, a roll and bacon etc, or a salad roll.....

Cobs in general are a "type" of horse - a short, stocky and also athletic horse. In essence a large drafty pony.

It's a buttie or bread cake in Yorkshire.

What do other peeps call chip butties? I've heard it called chip piece in Scotland.

a chip roll is just called a roll and chips up here.

a chip sanwich or any or sandwich is normally called a piece.

                              a piece on chips,
                              a piece on cheese etc

also if you have a packed lunch it is often called your piece and your sanwiches often called your pieces.....
