I have a theory that the further north you travel, the cheaper the beer becomes. There's your stupid london prices to start with and an average price in the midlands. And to explain the stigma of alcoholism attached to the scots, beer surely must be as cheap as p155.
This theory would also explain why santa claus is only able to work one night a year as the beer in the north pole must be free. and even then, he is only able to be lured into working with the offer of free sherry.
