star wars advice needed....

well,
the lad will be turning six this year and he has started ditching the micky mouse cartoons and TODAY he asked what star wars was and has took a definate interest.....

i have been looking forward to this moment for years now and am gonna spend a ladz weekend with him watching the entire set....

now here is the problem,

do i just watch the movies in order or do i put on "a new hope" first and play them in the order that they were released.....

i am ~~~~in driving myself nuts over this one......
i would like him to see them in the same order as i did as a child, but then again why start a story in the middle???

what do you's think????

i envy the lad.. hes got a whole load of classic boxsets to watch for the first time..
rocky, rambo, lethal weapon, die hard, star wars etc etc

start in the order they came out because it worked for millions of us got us hooked and still watched the phantom menace more than once

i'd agree, order they came in, and make him have a break of 22 years between first and second 3, . i can remember the moment Anikin became Darth Vader better than i remember the moment i got married, it was like time stood still(the movie,not the married bit(~~~~ she'd kill me if she read this))

Gotta agree with starting with 'A new hope'. The story is easier to understand, especially for someone young. That, and a lot of the character & political setup in episodes 1-3 need that knowledge from episodes 3-6.

The Last Starfighter is a good film. Don't forget about Tron, Battle Beyond the Stars & The Black Hole. Ok, the black hole is a disney film, but it's still fun.

I hate to say it, but I enjoyed the prequels to the star wars films, as much as the originals. Ok the graphics were different, and the stories a little more complex, but still amazing. I think Attack of the Clones is one of the best of the series IMHO.

Also the last starfighter rules! Watched it the other day, as it was on tv. Any film from that era would be cool for your kid mate. Ferris Bullers Days off, War Games, Flight of the Navigator, Last Starfighter amongst others.

defo wtach them in order of release like im with janobi i still think the other ones are watchable attack of the clones a close second to my fav one empire strikes back a classic. can still remember dusting the first 3 out for my oldest son then had to do it all again with me youngest but with the new ones added to moments ya cant beat

I'd also agree with Episode IV first. Probably better to hold their interest at that age. Good debate tho.
