Bike paths are for bikes, cyclist should be fined if they get caught riding anywhere else
Roads appeared long before cars, for walkers and horse/cart, and that is why this class of user are allowed on most of them 'by right' - motorists of course need to pass a test to earn the licence (not right) to use the roads.

Bikepaths aren't compulsory, do you only use motorways as they are 'for motor vehicles' only? Just about all roads except motorways are legal for bikes so get used to them and give them as much room as a car (as the highway code says), remember if you frighten a bike rider into using a car the roads get even more clogged up...

Of course bikes don't pay road tax, but nor do you as it was abolished in 1937, car users pay VED ('car tax') to use a car on the road, essentially to cover the damage it does to the roads, planet and people, but by all means tax all vehicles, how about by weight, say a tenner for a bike? so at ?1 per kilo something like a Vectra would be ?1500 is that OK with you? Or you could try charging by pollution caused, but as electric vehicles get a free VED disc you struggle to justify charging for a bike.

Poor motorists kill and injure thousands a year some of these on pavements, bikes really aren't in the same league are they?

When the oil runs out or when you can't afford to run a car will you walk or cycle?

I used to use both to get to work. In summer i would cycle, winter a lift. The thing is, especially at lights and cars turning left, cyclists need to have a little common sense. A car is allot bigger than a person on a push bike, and if it hits you, its gonna hurt.

A little common sense on both side, drivers and cyclists. If drivers are p1ssed off about cyclists, there is a nice lil app for andriod that records your journey an show it people.

Did anyone else see the cyclist on TV the other day who fitted a camera to his helmet and was attacked?

        Again COMMON SENSE PEOPLE

My turn to add some drivell in this thread:-

As Meat-City is such a shit hole, it is quicker in rush hour to bike to/from home/work.

Yes i'm guilty of using pavements, but as a rule there is a higher chance of a car whacking a cyclist than a cyclist wacking a peasant.

Also as a pedrestrian, would rather be faced with some sweaty bloke on a bike than some bird with a pushchair

          1) Cyclist will think - shite i'm in the wrong, slow down
          2) You don't think he is good looking, shame about the bike
          3) A bird with a pushchair is ALWAYS pritty, always think, she is cute, shame about the kid
          4) A bird with a pushchair will NEVER give way
          5) A bloke on a bike will at least grunt 'thanks' when pedestrians move out the way, bird with pushchair won't.

Here in Meat-City the council have screwed it up real bad, there used to be lots of short cuts, that mades less traffic, now has all changed so the traffic backs up - which is one of the reasons why a one way system came in, so cut pollution, but to turn right 'up hill' you have to turn left, and do a 3/4 of a mile detour!

There is a level crossing here in Meat-City (boast boast, smile smile), where after the train has gone there are 25,000 pedestrians and 60,000
cars, the cars will ALWAYS zoom past and stop right in front of you 50 meters up the road at the roundabout. I just ride in the middle of the road when the crossing has been down to stop this.

Like the other week, some twat cut me up, caught up with him, next lights, cut him up, when he over took again, didn't cut in so sharply.

Was going to cut somebody up at lights last week, but ran out of brakes.

Have now remembered why her in M-C it's safer to ride on the paths:-

The twats in their cars like to drive close to the kerb, certains parts are guarded by railings, one false move, nil poi, Meaty-Fries!
