I would like to know how to check the network connection on a DM500S.

check the connection in what way? check its connected ok? is thats what you mean, simply enter the ip address of your dm into your browser.
on pli jade image you can find this by
pressing MENU>SETUP>SYSTEM SETTINGS>NETWORK
Your ip will be something like this: 192.168.1.xx
type that into your browser,if its all connected ok, you should see the enigma web interface
